Royston Town Trail
See the remaining part of King James’ ‘Palace’ – once the favourite hunting lodge of a reigning monarch; a memorial to the squadron that included the famous Memphis Belle; and a church with the remains of a major monastery destroyed on the orders of Henry VIII. All this and more on the Royston Trail.

Discovered by accident 275 years ago, Royston Cave is an enigmatic, manmade, Grade I listed artefact. Who made the extensive range of crude wall carvings… what for… and when? Knights Templar, Masons, monks from the Abbey? Come visit and decide for yourself!
The cave is easily accessible with steps, a slope and handrail
Visit our museum that celebrates the stories and history of Royston and it’s people, from the Ice Age through to the 1950s. Come along to see various items that include our tapestry that is over 25 meters long and covers a period reaching back 64 million years.
