Royston’s commemorative sculpture sits at the head of the Coombes Hole underpass, which links Melbourn Road with the Burns Road estate.
Sustrans contributed to funding for the town’s Coombes Hole underpass which connects the town by providing an underpass below the railway line, and upgrade of the cycle lane network.
As part of this investment, three life-sized steel sculptures of local characters were created.
These depict a town crier hailing the news, King James I holding a Royston Crow, and classical BRIT award winner trumpeter Alison Balsom, who grew up in the town and attended Royston’s local schools.
